The Western Colorado Angus Association (WCAA) was established in 1975 for the development and promotion of Angus cattle within western Colorado and adjacent areas, and to promote generally the welfare of the livestock industry in the United States of America. Association members ranch within the state of Colorado and west of the continental divide. WCAA members are also members of the American Angus Association. WCAA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of seven members elected by the voting membership.
WCAA members raise registered Angus cattle acclimated to the semi-arid climate and altitude of western Colorado and surrounding states. A very important consideration in the choice of cattle for ranchers above 5000 feet is Brisket Disease. Many WCAA members raise PAP-tested cattle as one tool to help prevent Brisket Disease in addition to breeding for the other traits important for efficient, profitable cattle.
